Human Library for Mental Health Awareness Week

The Learning Commons celebrated Mental Health Awareness Week by hosting a Human Library event for Ms. Lee's peer mentorship class.  Thank You to our Living Books who volunteered their time from CHEO, ROH, Youth Net, and the Ottawa Inuit Children's Centre and other walks of life!

The video below as created to commemorate the event.

BYOD Campaign brought to you by the Teen Tech Club

St. Joseph student, Wellington Sanipe, created a motion graphics video to promote the school wide use of personal devices for academic purposes.  Students voted to allocate funds from our Speak Up grant to create a naturescape wall in the Quiet Lab and to purchase two iPad Minis for student use in the L.C.

The Battle of the Books Via Skype Between Our Red Maple Club and Acadia Jr. High (Winnipeg)

SJH Red Maple Club VS Acadia Jr. High Book Battle!

Today we battled via Skype with Acadia Jr. High in Winnipeg to determine which of the following titles is the best book ever!

St. Joseph High School Red Maple Club members nominated the following titles:

1.  The Vampire Stalker by Allision Van Diepen presented by Lena Morin
2.  The Vindico by Wesley King presented by Darien Reichel
3.  End of Days by Eric Walters presented by Aedyn Ladd

Acadia Jr. High nominated the following titles:

1.  The Bedmas Conspiracy by Deborah Sherman
2.  Fly Boy by Eric Walters
3.  The Undergrounders by David Skuy

All the speeches were persuasive and it was difficult to decide but the ultimate winner was Lena Morin with her pitch for The Vampire Stalker!
