Get an OPL Virtual Library Card for Summer Reading, Music, eBooks and more....

The Ottawa Catholic School Board and the Ottawa Public Library have entered into a partnership permitting students to register for an online virtual library card that will give students access to e-resources and more, 24/7 from school and from home.  The OCSB is the pilot for this OPL program. 



It includes access to all OPL’s  eContent such as:

·         Download eBooks through Overdrive and Archambault
·         Search online databases, articles and encyclopedias for research and homework help
·         Download music and videos through Freegal  (3/week)
·         Stream music through Naxos
·         Download magazines through Zinio
·         Register for programs ranging from book clubs to gaming sessions,  and various workshops


1. Log on to: www.BiblioOttawaLibrary.ca/en/OCSB


2. For the student number, be sure to enter a small “s”.


3. For the email address, be sure to enter @ocsbstudent.ca


4. Select the branch of the O.P.L. closest to your home! (Ruth E. Dickinson)


5. You will receive two confirmation emails:


a) The first one is the same one that is sent to regular customers who complete the form.
b) Note: access to the eContent will only be activated when you receive the second 
generic OPL online registration form. This email will include a temporary card 
number and PIN. When you first sign in to the OPL’s website with your temporary 
card number and PIN, you will be prompted to create a new username and PIN.
c) Within a few hours, students will get another email letting them know that their 
OCSB account has been authorised and that they have access to all our eContent 
and online services.

Festival of Trees at the SportsPlex!

Over 600 avid readers from across the city attended the Ottawa Festival of Trees.  The day began with a proclamation from the Mayor of Ottawa, Honourable Jim Watson declaring May 16th the Official Day of Reading!

Students were able to meet 11 Canadian authors and attended various writing workshops.












Exploratory 7/8 Arts Festival at the War Museum!

Students from the drama, art and music program visited the Ottawa International Children's Festival to see the City and Iris and enjoy the celebrate of the arts.  They also received Circus Training from the "Silly People" who taught students how to juggle, spin and do other acts of agility and grace!

World Religions Human Library for Education Week 2014

The Learning Commons was pleased to host "living books" from various faiths to educate Ms. Lee's Gr. 11/12 World Religions class. The following photos capture the essence of the exchange of ideas and mutual understanding that is the Human Library.
