The Learning Commons blog is a virtual gathering place for people of all ages to explore the world through print, eresources and apps for education. It is a hub integral to teaching and learning. My mission is to re-vitalize the Library Blog and make it more useful and interactive for students and staff!
My vision is to create a place for students to:
* blog about the books they are reading
* create wiki assignments
* post photostory interpretations of their learning
* post podcasts of their oral readings, debates or essays
Essentially, to bring technology into the 21st Century classroom.

Gr. 7 Read-a-thon a Riot!!!
On Thursday, Nov. 17th, 63 gr. 7 students gathered in our library to celebrate reading and literacy. They brought their pillows, sleeping bags and wore comfy p.j.'s to kick back and read for pleasure. Students browsed the library book shelves and created forts all over the library.
They raised $1340.00 for new library resources. Students listed over 40 new books, magazines and resources they wish to have the library purchase with the fundraising money.
Local acclaimed author Alan Cumyn entertained the participants with storytelling from his latest book, Dear Sylvia. Students actively participated in a Question & Answer session afterwards.
Many students received door prizes by draw and the top fundraisers received gift certificates to Old Navy, Leishman Books and Shoppers Drugmart. Two lucky participants won tickets to the 67's hockey game this Friday Nov. 28th.
Thank You to All Students, Staff and Parents who supported this literacy initiative!
